using the standard SV-98 i would say good maps for that would be basra, and sharqi since its IO maps and smaller, next would be Karkand and Mashtuur, then toss up between Oman and Dragon Valley, and Dalian ugh i would hate to play that using my SV-98 just because after so long your only getting like 30 some damage a shot

Sharqi best for recon.
Trow ball hide behind corner when they get close pop up and shoot them with the 870 in the chest.
Rinse and repeat.

Rly what maps you play depends on your preference,training points setup and your primary.Or if youre like me whether there is a tank on the map or not xD

Karkand and Mashtuur are the best maps for SV98.

If you want to level up faster, play Dragon Valley and use APC's. When you die choose to respawn at the base to take tank or APC. Keep doing it and you'll earn a lot of points.
But if you prefer to snipe only, chill out and have fun with sniping, play Karkand/Mashtuur.

Besides being good for sniping, on these maps you can earn 60-80 credits for winning. Mashtuur gives 80 credits for a win. This is important because you want to earn credits and to buy yourself better weapon in near future, M24 for example, which is 45K credits. Remember NOT to buy M14, it's not worth it, you'll throw away 17.5K credits. You will unlock M24 by reaching 14th level, AFAIK, you will be able to rent it and bang with it.

Also, play on Official EA servers because on those servers are mostly low level and inexperienced players so you won't get pawned by very experienced players on clan servers. This is important too, you won't have any chance with SV98 against very experienced players.

I read a few times that sharqi is good with the standard weapon because its not so big. But on other maps I will earn more credits to buy a goog weapon...I will play sharqi and on maps where I earn much credits. Thank you for your help

There is no "best map for recon". Also do you mean long-range bolt rifle recon or what?
My preferences (L96+P226):

Karkand - excellent map.
Oman - very good, but has problem like any heli/jet map - it is unplayable when smbdy skillful sits in heli/jet.
Basra - very good, but need good skill coz of short/med ranges.
Mashtuur - good.
Sharqi - bad, don't play, point blank map.
Dragon Valley - so-so, play seldom coz it is designed for heli rape and it is dark and gloomy. But big open spaces, trees, bushes and shadows are good.
Dalian - bad, don't play coz it is designed for heli rape and it is dark and gloomy and even less convenient for sniper than DV.
