Greetings to you all,
I have a few questions regarding the said rifle, and since I'm a newcomer and consider my self inexperienced in this great game, your help would be greatly appreciated so here it goes. Although I've created 3 characters so far, the one I like most is the Sniper. My weapon of choice is the Barret M95 , it is a rifle I had the fortune to use in real life. The in-game weapon - M95 is customized to all parts, however I feel it doesn't inflict as much damage as it should. I have +3 damage in my config in use and +4 range, still targets that are at 100m rarely get damage. As for the amount of damage when a shot is successful, it never exceeds the 50-60 damage points. The M95 is an extremely powerful weapon with 50 cal rounds that would actually tear to pieces any target. I'm not expecting to see this in the game as it would be a disadvantage to other players, but again to use M95 and need two shots to eliminate a target, is not exactly what I had in mind. I have not seen any damage boosters in the shop and I wonder weather in addition to the customization if there are any other means to increase the damage. Any suggestions as far as the customization and/or how to properly configure my rifle would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Kind regards, rogue With Honor we Serve (This post was last modified: 09-10-2012 01:46 PM by roguetrooper66.) |

Giving it a one shot kill at any place would be unbalanced.
Aim for the head. Also if you are looking for realism than the default pistol should also kill you from one headshot. |

Yeah aim for the head. And idk what mags you got on your rifle but the lowest damage i've gotten even from all the way across karkand was 64 and that was a body shot.
I'm going out looking for my mind, if it should return before I do, put it in a cage so it'll be there when I get back. |

L96A1 is better; with viper mags, you can two shot people really quick if you can't get the headshot.

Thank you for your replies guys, lol a headshot would give the kill regardless the weapon in use.
I'll keep that in mind AP, although the Barret was the reason I started this game. Prior to this one I was in another game that their website showed the Barret as an available weapon to buy. Same day when I started it I realized that it was removed from the game and that it would appear or might appear in odd times. In spite of the fact that I've purchased several items with cash, I stopped playing 2 days later. I got an additional slot for extra weapon and might give the rifle you're suggesting a go, but I would really like to find a way to maximize the Barret's performance. Any additional suggestions are greatly appreciated. Regards rogue With Honor we Serve |

You would greately appreciate a long rage scope, such as the Range Ace, and the precision barres, which is abosolutely needed for reducing bullet drop. The L96 is the best current sniper rifle, but there's another 50. CAL sniper rifle incoming (which I'm not allowed to talk about), but here are some hints. It's a legendary SR made by Barret Industries, known for its damage and speed. ![]() |

If you see a target away from you, you should aim just a little above the target, preferably above the head. If the enemy is just within 50 meters, however, which is I think on Basra from B top level parking lots near the bombed car, aiming near the truck on the road, you should aim just about a millimeter above the head. And trust me, take L96A1, you'll see why. It kills with one headshot, or 2 body shots at any distance with Viper magazines, just the same way M95 does, but much faster. Also, it has more bullets. Also, take a good consideration about a good pistol, as it's vital to have it for a recon. A good recon. If you ever played any other FPS, you'll do good here.
Now, M95 is the most powerful rifle, but hey, this game not real life. Heard that Arma 2 has real life damages of the weapons, never tried though. Anyways, just go to a server against one person and ask him to practice. Or just go to an empty server and see where you shoot from where, so that the next time you'd have an experience of where the bullet would fly. Just remember that distance and the height of the head, and aim to the head first, then look where you shot to, if the bullet goes too low, aim higher and higher, until you'll get a potential headshot. For that, use pistol, and see where the bullet went to, stand next to the wall, press F to see your front, and if the pistol bullet is on the level of your head, shoot the same spot so that it didn't disappear, and switch to your rifle, shoot. This is the best strategy for a starting recon. P.S. Ooh, forgot to add: there are devkits, developer's kits, which have customizations in them, as well as weapons and clothing. Gruevski and meeha thanks guys for your inputs here, lots of great advices. The only rifle, at least that I'm aware off from Barret is the M82A1. That is purely anti-material rifle, mainly used to disable vehicles or.....elephants lol, but that would tear an elephant apart , no matter how you put it. In my opinion of course it is the greatest of the line, the only drawback is the recoil. When firing them its as if a mule kicked your shoulder ! I don't know what the upcoming rifle would be, but since I'm a Barret fan, its something to look forward to.
I will give that rifle a go meeha regardless to any other rifle that is to be implemented in the game, you're the second player that supports it and I do respect the knowledge of the experienced players. One thing is sure here, I may not be 100% satisfied with the in-game M95 but I can see I made the right choice and registered here. The community, you guys, show that and I'm glad to be here. Some info on those dev kits would be greatly appreciated. Warmest regards rogue With Honor we Serve |

The thing is, you need to add some of the best in-game attachments to put M95 on par with a better performance(still not even close to real performance). And they are EXPENSIVE, very expensive.
Find the Deals section in-game and search the Hot Deals . At the moment you can find Olof's devset and Jtiger01's devset, the only two deals that provide you with weapons, attachments and gear for half the total price. Olof's devset will provide you with M1911, a rather reliable sidearm, viper mags, tactical stock and precision barrel, giving you unparalleled precision, almost no bullet drop and a good damage over range ratio. Jtiger01's devset will provide you with L96A1, an EXCELLENT sniper rifle, predator barrel, viper mags, stabilized stock, Ballistic Range Ace scope for the long range shot and SAIGA-12, a rather noobish shotgun. Olof's devset for precision, Jtiger01's devset for a special gameplay experience. ![]() |

Thank you for your reply, Few days back when I started, had no idea about the "hot deals" and the "dev packs" lol so I configured my M95 after buying it, part by part. I got range and accuracy on barrel, +4 accuracy/ballistic stock, viper mag, ballistic scope. For the same gun I bought more than 1 item per part that can be modified, at 1st I thought they would stack but I was wrong. No matter though, I'll have time to try them out till I find what suits me best. I bought yesterday the dev pack with the L96, found great value for money in comparison to what the Barret cost me - 1st got the gun and then each part individually. Must say is really faster than the Barret, I'll need to practice on it though and right now I'm on a low specs laptop which makes things a bit hard. The shot gun in the pack is not bad, fast reload but low damage and range. I got an extra weapon slot and apart from the secondary I got a shot gun for close combat, but like I said, the pc troubles me a lot and I'm getting killed all the time. Thank you again KZMZ and all the others for their valuable tips. Warmest regards rogue With Honor we Serve |

There is a whole forum for recon concerns (sniper rifles being primary among those concerns).

Well, since we get slapped in the face by the blues if we discuss unreleased weapons, all I can say is that there will be no elephants in P4F.
