[Weapons] Re-spec SVD. Replace old SVD with SVDS.

In the capitalist entertainment game Battlefield Play4Free, the honourable and courageous sniper rifles are presented as cowardly neutered versions of their real-life counterparts in order to create a social order of equality. While we can all agree that this is indeed a noble and admirable approach, it has led to an undesired effect; In a world where all are equal, the gallant and heroic SVD rifle is less equal than others!

In practice, the SVD’s range and effectiveness is comparable to most bolt-action sniper rifles (and notably better than some of the ones already featured in the game). Due to its semi-automatic capability, however, the version in game causes greatly reduced damage in order to balance out its versatility and high rate of fire. As a result, you are left with a weapon that resembles an SVD in appearance but not even close in performance, even taking into account the limitations placed on sniper rifles by the game.

The SVDS is a compact variant of the SVD designed for use by paratroopers, with a shorter barrel and folding stock. Taking the game context into consideration, the current weapon stats for the SVD would be more appropriate for its marginally less ‘snipery’ sibling.

Technically, the SVU should also be a good match as a replacement rifle, but with the existing SVU-A as a much weaker quasi-assault rifle it seemed to be a less likely option.

The ‘new’ SVD would deal a similar amount of damage to the SV-98, but with the rate of fire of the L96 (which is less than half its current RoF). It would come equipped with a PSO-1 scope at the same zoom level as the SV-98, and have just 2 x 10-round magazines. All other stats would remain unchanged, namely its damage/range drop-off (just 60m for long range), velocity (which is already the same as M24 and SV-98) & both its high deviation and lower recoil compared to the bolt-actions. The semi-automatic firing system would remain in place, allowing the soldier to remain scoped-in between shots.

The result :

In terms of performance placement amongst the current rifles, my intention is that its peculiar balance puts it squarely in the middle of the spread. It could technically outperform the SV-98 & M24 because of its speed, but would struggle against the L96 or M95 due to its power.

tl;dr - Rename & remodel the current SVD as an SVDS, and make a new SVD that's more like a bolt-action instead.

My first thought was actually that instead of 'rebalancing' the currently useless SVU-A they could just use it to replace the SVD. This would probably annoy people though, especially those who bought the SVU-A because they want to cripple it into being an assault rifle. It would make a lot more sense to have an SVU/-A with that kind of performance though, since it would be a lot closer to its real-life application.

The problem with having an SVU in addition to the SVU-A is that you then have what is essentially the same rifle with two completely different spec sets, which is something I've mainly tried to avoid by using the SVDS and SVD and directly sharing a lot of their properties.

The idea of shunting a reworked version of the SVD into the bolt-action range is nothing short of inspired - this is how it should have been in the first place.
