Diwan does an awesome job creating these skins and renders from the ground up, he should get so much more credit than he actually does. His job is extremely hard. I know that I couldn't do it at all. Later on when I get so much more better at digital work, I'll have a go at making weapon renders. Until I get that good, though, its just skin-changes for me

Nice tutorial. I tried to make a camo. And I made a "camo"...or what is it.
Maybe I'll try to make better in future. Be still and know!

Making a weapon texture is quite hard if you want it to be optimized. You need the mesh's UV map and make the texture there then do it for each of its LODs. Then do a bumpmap and maybe use something else in the Render Engine for some detailed renders. Pain in the buttocks if you ask me. ![]() |

How do I get rid of the grayish glowing parts around the original render?

Its a shadow thats been put into the actual PNG image the renders are saved from. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it rather than cut around the gun to remove it

Select the weapon in your layer (CTRL+click layer preview) > Refine edge (CTRL+ALT+R) > Put contrast at around 35 and Shift Edge to around -50 (these values differ per weapon so don't take that too literal) and press OK > Invert selection (CTRL+SHIFT+I) > Press delete > Deselect selection (CTRL+D). You're done (for Photoshop users ofcourse). Hope that helps. (This post was last modified: 18-07-2012 12:55 PM by CriscoSpectrum.) |
