2010/01/13 PunkBuster is on!

It's a start.

Punkbuster is not so useful by itself, as it only bans people that actually try to use hacks against PB itself, not the games played. It only 'kicks' players using known cheats (and lots are unknown), so without enforcement of a master ban list of sorts through communities like Punksbusted, PBBans, GGC-Stream, etc.

Once you get streaming support and have server admins that actually review screenshots regularly so that the master ban list continues to grow you finally start to see some result from having Punkbuster enabled on the game.

Without the community creating ways to effectively use Punkbuster, it does very little to clean up the servers. This is closed beta though - it will come soon enough.

Now that BF Heroes has support of GGC-Stream and PBBans, along with the awesome Auto-Admin program from Pedro the cheaters either avoid the AA servers, or are automatically removed based on these master bans lists. Hopefully BFP4F will improve on this concept.

*sigh* I hate PB, such an ineffective tool, well at least admins will be able to review screen shots, better anything than nothing.

I am glad that Punkbuster has at very least been instituted but it really isn't the most effective tool out there...Not that I know of any more...but anybody with a decent amount of programming experience can create a Hack with a Punkbuster workaround. It is the reason that there are always new hackers using different hacks.
I think that a very worthy project would be to create a new type of punkbuster to catch all of the fools.

no it's not new PB that is needed, but for evenbalance to start giving better support to their own product

This announcements seems to have been an invitation for the cheaters to come out and show off that they can get around Punkbuster. "Ghettocuban" was just blatently spam advertising for a certain cheat website in chat while racking up 50-2 neighborhood scores. I'll be glad to provide the website name to any mods or admins that care to look into it, but I don't want to advertise it here also.

sorry - PB is not doing much to kick hackers.

Right now, server i3D, little dude called Ghettocuban is using aimbot, tracers do not work on his tank, he's shooting through buildings. he also is saying he has disabled PB, and is promoting a website with game hacks.

This is happening right now.

I confess my self, disappointed.
