OK well i shouldn't need to port forward for this. It used to work just fine before the new year once that came the game didn't work and the issues were coming from punkbuster.

IDK but im on a desktop with wifi. That might help but i don think it will.

But the issue is with punkbuster not with the game itself.

I also seem to be missing the pbsvc for bfpf4. The file that should be in

"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield Play4Free"

Yea its not there. Its in "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield Play4Free\pb"

Should i move the pbsvc_p4f.exe file to "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield Play4Free" instead of it being here "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield Play4Free\pb"?

OK well i know this is my 3rd post but i got to play today for like 2mins and got a "service communication failure" with punkbuster B.

Specifically this "[03.30.2012 13:58:24] RESTRICTION: Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrB.exe initialization failed"
How do i fix that?

I can play the game now for like 1 or 2 mins before im kicked but i want to be able to play for long periods not just short bursts and then have to reconnect. Please help me.

try to reinstall pbuster with pbsvc_p4f.exe (first uninstall then reinstall both with same file)
try without your firewall
use search on forum

It says my firewall is OFF.

I already tried that. I could play for a while and eventually it just stopped working.

and i dont feel like rebotting my pc to do this.

more solutions:

lower your resolution and details

when you run game client go to Task manager and set priorities for bfp4f.exe to below normal and to pnkbsterB and pnkbsterA.exe to above normal, then join the server;after few minutes of play you can change priorities back

second solution is not to do anything when you come into new game first 2 minutes, just put your sight on floor and wait or even alt-tab out of game, after minute or two play normal

i also have to temporarily turn down AVG antivirus

that problem is usually caused because system/processor is overloaded and pnkbsterB cant work properly, it happens only in first minute of play on new server, when new map is loaded on same server there is no problem, so you just have to allow pnkbuster to work uninterrupted on beggining of play and you are good

nope. i found my issue.

its the punkbuster b service. its not installing the pnkbstrb.sys file to my services. its detecting admin but not installing the pnkbstrb.sys file. pnkbstrA is in services but pnkbstrB isnt.

look at this snippet.

I have tried to reinstall this using "Run as administrator" and i got those results. I thought they might help a little better than the other results that i posted. I am hoping that i cant get someone to help me to fix this because once this is fixed ill be able to play bfp4f again. I have found that some people (doing a Google search) just decided to format their system and it worked but i don't want to format my system and don't have the time to do it anyway so I'm going to take the time to give you guys the info you need and hope that you can provide further support on the issue and can help me solve it.

I have tried to install after disabling my anti virus with no success and i have also tried uninstalling and deleting all the left over files from punk buster's uninstall with no success after its install after that. I can play in the game for a minute or two and then it fails somewhere and i get kicked. I would like this fixed so that i can play through the whole round. I have also attempted to make an even balance support ticket and they just deleted it with no response. Their dicks from what iv seen.

So can someone help me fix my punkbuster b driver failure due to invalid certificates or something please. I need this fixed and the reinstall of punkbuster isn't doing anything to help me.

Please i would love to get back to playing this game and i have been looking for a solution for the last like 2months and have not found a solution and no one has provided good enough info for me to get punkbuster fixed.

Please i would like to get back to playing. If i cant get this fixed before i get my new PC then i will just install this game on my new PC but please i would like to have this fixed so if i can actually play on this pc and if this ever happens again i know what the issue is and i can solve it. Please please please help me get this fixed, I have tried everything that you guys have given me to use to attempt to fix this.

I have been using Google to try to find more info on fixing this issue but found nothing and the even balance support told me this.

    Note #7: If you run some type of personal firewall or security software, make sure that you configure it to fully allow our services, especially PnkBstrA.exe.

These kicks are most often caused by our PnkBstrA.exe service failing to properly install our PnkBstrB.exe service during gameplay.

Also, several Windows 7 users have reported that the following steps corrected the issue for them:


    login as an Administrator user

    open Windows Explorer and browse to c:\windows\system32 (or wherever the windows folder is on your machine) - note: if you run Windows 7 64 bit, you need to browse to c:\windows\syswow64 instead

    scroll down and find PnkBstrA.exe

    right-click PnkBstrA.exe and choose Properties

    click the Compatiblity tab

    click the button at the bottom of the window that reads "Change settings for all users"

    click the checkbox for "Run this program as an administrator"

    click the "Ok" buttons to accept the changes and get back out.


Then try playing again.

But it has not worked. please help me. I am using windows 7 ultimate 32bit.

PB is having an issue at the moment..
DICE and EA are working with Even balance to find cause and fix it asap.

So its probably just even balance's new certificate signing crap. They change the certificate signing thing every year and this year they picked what seems to be a really crappy signing software.
They really need to fix this so a lot of people can play the games that use punkbuster.

I found something about opening ports in windows XP in registry for interior firewall.

only the port 1234 is open after services installed by punkbuster.exe installprog. but no Ports for PunkbusterA and B.
( 44301 45301). Iam starting to fill the entries manually.

damn. it will not solve the problem. but its iritating to see both ports couldn't find in registry.

You are right Alex i found it on Microsoft URL. At April Microsoft released a certification fix. Think this certificates will solve the problem. Some guys confirm it it after I posting this.
