yeah i dont expect anything to happen, but it seems so much wasted energy seeing ppl post on the same things over and over and no one does anything and the mods have to run and lock them now

so why cant someone insert a script into the forum code so that when a user types certain words into the Topic Subject line, it flags up a tooltip that there are so many threads of that word existing, and would they like to go to one of them.

The list neednt be more than a dozen or two long, added to by player facing community mods and rather than a hot lookup it could do a library lookup once a day for the stats, minuscule processor time.

EG, Newb_user1 goes to type into the title My Sights are blurry, as soon as his cursor gets to the r in blur, up pops a tooltip ... blur - there are XXX posts with blur in, do you want to go to one of them first? and then present the search page for blur, no magic or rocket science needed.

script could also be made to prevent all caps posting, would save being at war with the more emotional posters all the time, but thats a different issue Big Grin

as i said, i dont expect to ever see it, but there it is

I like the idea.

Another thing is that the "Search" button needs to be much more obvious, maybe looking a little like the Play Now button.
