M16a2 model not correct

^I think you're referring to something close of a Dedicated Marksman Rifle rather than a sniper rifle. Maybe?

You do know...that the 416 is basically just an M4 with a gas piston system, right? Everything you just listed applies to the M4/M16 family (of which, the 416 is a member).

Because? It was deemed unnecessary/expensive.

XM8 wasn't any better than the other guns currently in use. So after that they dropped it.

It's still a nice gun tough.

As far as I know, the XM8 was somewhat better, just much more expensive.
The US couldn't afford upgrading to it. You have to draw the balance between cheap and good.
