The first stages - choosing a class and creating a character are done via the web interface and this installs the launcher. The game engine only installs the first time you press 'play now' after this.
Every time you launch the game it wil check you have the latest version and if not it will ask if you want to update.

Give it another go........

If you still cannot get to the game try and post some screenshots of any pop up messages you get and im sure EPIC or another veteran will be able to help.

I can only fly helicopters in game, clicking the training option for helicopter doesn't seem to do anything?

You aren't missing anything. By clicking the helicopter training, your soldier graduated in some kind of internal training, and thus becomes able to pilot a helicopter.
There is a suggestion running that they implement some kind of training map, like it is with BFH. In the meantime, you could (if you don't have the full version) download the BF2 demo and train piloting there (it was mentioned in one of the helicopter tutorials in this forum that it's same handling).

First select/train them in the "Training" window. After that, switch to the "Weapons" window and attach the grenade to your equipmentbar.
The higher the trained level, the more nades you will have (one grenade per trained level). They are kind of a "one-click" weapon, which means: press the button, and the grenade will be thrown.

Newbe question...Who's running the servers? is there in the future any chance of getting a server lobby? Reason for asking is I like some maps but not others.

Right now EA are running the servers, in the future you will be able to rent servers for you or your clan

Hi guys, I searched in the forum but the information I'm looking for I can't find. (Or I'm to blind, maybe it's the language ...).
Is there a roadmap for bfp4f? When will the open beta ends and the game is released, is there a fixed date?

A minimap? yes in the upper right corner of your screen
The open beta will last a time, just like Battlefield Heroes, it will last atleast a few years because devs are still making content

There is no public roadmap. Maybe they will publish one, as soon as they can foresee when the game is "ready to be released".

lol, no I wasn't asking for the minimap. Roadmap you will say to a stratetic plan of a company which shows the steps for a project where you can find milestones like 1. Closed Beta from xx.xx-xx.xx, 2. new wapons will come on xx.xx.xx (Date), 3. Ah ok Well Battlefield Heroes started open beta about september ~ october 2009 and now it's 2011 and it's still open beta ^^
