Dont like it! Have glitches in main menu, cant see cursor so i have to keep guessing. lags at the startup, stupid blur when im aiming makes it impossible t oshoot someone from distance. game is in beta yet already cheaters, and private hacks sold here and there. doubt PB will deal with them since BC2 still is filled with cheaters and no bans are made on private hacks. Im disappointed with EA.
I'm enjoy it there a couple things i would like a 10 spawn protection while loading other profile so a lest we have a chance on the Battlefield and not being spawn killed all the time. And please bring back prone and also add the FN 57 pistol with silencer to recon class. And loving the next ideas EASY team brought to us.
i play in windowed mode and my cursor keeps coming out of the screen so im not accurate so im forced to play in full screen...
When i turn/move, i jump about/skip[kinda like what happens when you lag].
The fog disrupts my vision and playing on super low makes your range of vision very short.
I mean, i played bfh [which i quit] and i could run it on low fine. and i could see through half the map...
Don't like it so far.
Snipers => I get sniped while spawning (when loading customizations, a camper headshoots me before i can even start running (spawn protection?)
No changable class (soldier) ingame => my team got pwned by tank because nobody was engineer, I wanted to change to my engineer, got in a game filled with engineers so tanks got worthless
BUGS! even for a beta, I have participated in alot of betas, and this is more like an alpha.
Even the main menu has its bugs, to name a few i encountered:
No mouse cursor, settings don't get saved, stuck after disconnecting server, ...
Game it self: LAG (how is that possible from a company with so much experience? the game can hardly be heavier than bf2 ...)
Textures missing, then popping up again
Weird grenade bounces
And overall it feels like bf heroes, wich I played again for a week after giving up on it a few weeks after the beta.
I sure hope ppl who pay for the game won't be over powered
A lot of work lies ahead, but I am looking forward to it, atm I a toppled the 1000 hours mark on bfbc2, but I am gonna stick to that for a while longer
AND FOR CRIST SAKE dump punkbuster! Its CRAP! Doesn't work in BFBC2, and it doesn't here, game is already filled with cheaters!
ok, first impression of the game: not too bad but still a few problems
I created an assault soldier and i got into the game, was very impressed by the graphics for a free2play game, it ran smooth no problems there BUT
when i aim down the sight there is too much blurring, the depth of field just covers the whole screen and i cant see anyone so im forced to fire from the hip :/
Some times i cant see my cursor when i start up the game so i couldnt change my settings around either, the gunner seat in the tank rotates too quickly, it must be slowed down 'cos its easy to kill people
Lack of a server browser, this is a must for the next update.
I've got into games where im the only one playing and then waiting around for halff an hour to find out that you're still the only one in the game, not on.
Besides the many bugs / glitches :
It lacks a server browser. That would be great.
Friends list...yeah, that's kind of missing.
I have not encountered any bugs besides those mentioned, and I've been playing since...around December 23rd. The general gameplay idea isn't bad. Once the dev team irons out the problems it'll be an awesome game for something free. Feels better than BF2 for one single thing : It's not using that ballistics system. That "cone of fire" thing haunted me for all the years I've played BF2, and still does when I play it. Now a gun isn't just spouting out bullets in random directions from the most stabile firing position, and is able to hit the broad side of a dreadnought.
I just hope you guys won't overprice everything like you did with Battlefield Heroes. It's the sole reason that game fails so badly. If I'm going to play a free game, I'm going to play it entirely for free, but still want to have the majority of the customization options. Charging real money should only be done with true premium items.
Game is still too buggy to decide what's balancing issues what's lag and what's lack of skill ; O
Heavy machine guns (medic has them? wth?) are accurate enough to snipe me down from very very far away... Assault's 2nd weapon has a pump action grenade launcher, but you can't use it?!
Fog on low setting is just killing the game (can't snipe and get sniped down a lot), also there should be an in-game server browser.
The development system is nice I think ( low lvl, so it's hard to tell ), but some other stuff is so different, unexpected and still needs tweaking or even changing.
I'm going too wait for some more content and fix for the bugs, then I'm going to test the game some more.
Great graphics for free to play, only F2P FPS that has aim down sights, Closed Beta has free perm weapons, bullet penetration(+more realistic) Has potential

I always enjoyed the old BF1942 and the mods of it. I hate that you have to move up levels and buy your own weapons, sux to be playing against a guy with some damn mini gun and all I have is a damn m16 rifle or whatever. I also liked to change out from assult to antitank to sniper in old BF1942 game and you cant do that here. I really liked the old game for its free roaming maps and not just confined to small areas and checkpoints.
Stop leaving Prone out of your games, i remember the annoying ppl that would "dolphin dive" in the earlier BF games and while that was a cheap way of avoiding getting shot (made me so angry) taking Prone out completely is not the answer. Find a way around the issues they cause and reintroduce this action. its very frustrating to see a Bipod on a rifle or a sniper in a guilie suit and no prone. I have always loved BF games and when BFBC didnt have prone i was dissapointed and i refused to buy BFBC2 after playing the demo and this action was left out. In game class change would be great even if its only between matches.
OK, a few gripes still.
1. Hackers still rampant...even after "Punkbuster" went live.
Come on, nobody goes 42 / 5 in a round and kills from halfway across the zone in a tank 1st shot.
The other night another player was shooting through walls from behind a dumpster. Went from 10 kills to about 25 in like 3 min. He finished the round at 39 / 1. I took screen shots of both.
The first so called "hacker" mentioned also kept spamming the site he got his hack from.
2. I Spent a lot of time tonight, got thru level 4, level 5 and about halfway thru level 6.
I had to log for a bit. So I backed out of game, spent my training points and guess what...??
"stats my not be up to date" ...
Logged back in and at the start of level 5 AGAIN !!!
Not the first time, and has happened on other chars as well.
Getting ticked at this... apparently if you log before leveling you lose your level..
Even if you do level you can still lose it.. A lose / lose situation when server drops you.
3. Tracer darts don't work half the time.
I can tag a tank, then launch a RPG from 1 building away AND MISS ?!?!?!
What gives???
4. I would like to see a training map so you can get familiar with your weapons without other players hack/killing you before you can learn how to use your weapons.
5. Nobody fears banning if it even exists from what they shout in game.
I think the easiest way to stop hacking is temp ban accounts where people are consistently getting 25+ kills a round with only 1 or 2 deaths.
If anyone is really that good I'd like to meet them.
My first impressions was "where is the uninstall button?"
I normally give new games a chance but nope, this one didn't make it past the first 5 minutes, that's impressive.
So far it is a rough beginning. The ideas presented are great, but much work still needs to be done on bugs and LAG! Way too much lag--choppy movement. I keep falling back to CoD and BF2 because I get tired waiting for this game.
well my first impression would be "What a joke!"
Now I say this because I was never able to connect the first time I tried, but being a SQA tester for both web and applications, and the fact that this is a "BETA". I plowed on.
From my experience and as I have read throughout the forum, the first impression is the fact that it has major connection issues to be worked out. This will discourage a lot of people right from the start. As someone stated here once already the web launching bit should be worked on. It would be also nice to have the option to have the logon information remembered, so we don't need to login everytime we get disconnected for some reason or another.
Once I was connected, well then there was the disapearing weapons...although I was still able to take out 2 tanks, 7 soldiers, and capture 2 flags, but it was a bit frustrating to have to quit the game and reconnect to get everything back (I know this is already reported in the bugs list, so I sort of knew it would happen).
The customization loads (other players) which take place when you respawn, really lags the play at first. I guess I would add a few things as well; like knowing the location of the person requesting ammo or meds. I play both and I hear request all the time, and I am one to stop and look around to see where I can supply; only to find myself all alone with no idea where the request came from.
Anyway I think this could really do well as long as an effort is made to make this a little smoother. I have played almost every type of shooter there is out there and I know there will be people who will flock to this if it amounts to anything.
Now if you will excuse me, I need to put my SQA hat back on and try to connect again...
Hi, well im in Mexico, dont know if there are many others latin american players already, but i gotta say that im still installing the game and i`ve waited like an hour or more and it only goes for a 25%
Would somebody tell me if this is normal or maybe its because im too far of the server??
is it factible that the game runs decent for me?
Preamble: I'm a 26 old and have been playing FPS a long time (starting with Wolfenstein 3D). I've played a lot of online BF:V, BF2, Quake Live and COD:MW, but not the newer games because I my computer is a bit old. Not much of the older games either, shoddy 56k internets didn't help.
Anyway, as such I would like to give my first impressions after 2 brief sessions:
- The launcher is most infuriating, buggy and slow. I need to be able to click on the game and fire it right up.
- There is no obvious way to play with friends, or to choose a server. I get that you don't like anyone else hosting the game, but not having any choice doesn't work either. The BF:Heroes system didn't work for me either.
- The field of view is a bit narrow, which makes this game feel like some console port.
- The movement controls of the infantry feel a bit clunky. Whether or not I want run/crouch to be toggle or 'hold' should be an option.
- The mouse control feels OK. Not laggy.
- The wobble of the view when running is too pronounced. Something like COD:MW works better, or just axe it.
- The nudging/knockback effect that firing a weapon such as the G3 has is unlike most other games. The crosshairs do not return to the original position that I pointed them at after a burst of fire (or at least it felt like they didn't), which makes it much harder than usual to aim.
- The vehicles seem to handle just like they did in BF2, which is a major plus as I felt instantly comfortable even after all those years.
- The graphics quality seems a bit off. It seems as though you guys tried to improve upon BF2 with the tiniest of art budgets, and it doesn't work.
- Not being able to switch class in-game is not how this game is supposed to work.
- Speaking of which, why can't I chose my spawning point like in BF2? Another integral part of the game.
- Removing the prone position is something I have mixed feelings about. Going prone in BF2 was too easy, I agree, but removing it completely makes me feel very, very exposed.
- The map feels too large, or the players feel too small/slow. It's as if you guys thought that the original Strike at Karkand was too cramped and wanted the vehicles to have more manoeuvring room. I don't really agree with that. It just feels off in its current incarnation.
- I'm not too sure about having this skill point system and buying weapons and all, but I guess that's pretty much a requirement for you guys to rake in the dollars. Just keep in mind that newbies can be put off by having to play a lot or pay to access the full features of the game.
- Having user 'customizations' (the silly hats? I don't know) streaming in while the game is in progress caused some lag on my system. Why is this happening at all? Why does BF:P4F make my computer feel like it doesn't have 3GB of RAM? Please don't do that.
- Spawning right behind an enemy is not my idea of a fair game.
- The health indicator is not obvious enough. Yes it's in large font, but how do I know instinctively that I'm about to kick the bucket?
Well that's pretty much it I think. I guess I'll be deleting the beta shortly, maybe I'll give it another go when it goes gold. Maybe not. I do know though that my other recent experience with free game/micro payment model was MUCH better: League of Legends. It's not perfect either, and it's a completely different genre for sure, but that game just WORKS (most of the time anyway). And it doesn't require me to launch another browser (yes I use Chrome), enter my email address and password (why do I need to do that every time?) just to click a button that launches the game launcher, in which I can finally click to launch the actual game (and get some coffee).
I don't know if any of you developer or publishing guys actually read this, but if you do and would like to comment on this (yeah right), I suggest you use my email address as I probably won't be checking back here.
edit: I played a bit again. Something I noticed is that all client side prediction of animations seems to be overruled by the server, which causes jitters when I walk over a bump or try to look around after I zoom or unzoom my gun/rifle/pistol. I guess this is the source of the clunkiness of movemt that I mentioned earlier. As I apparently completed a complete round, I was struck by how awfully short it was. Good games in BF2 took half an hour at least, often longer. This round reminded me more of BF:H, were a round would be over before anyone could have tried any kind of strategy. I mean, I was playing fairly aggressively and when the round ended I had but a 3/3 K/D. Any proper BF2 round took long enough for me to rack up 10, 20 or even 30 to 40 kills, and often at least as much deaths. You also chose to use the intermediate size version of Karkand, not the large one, which is a damn shame.
You know, making BF2 free to play could have been as simple as inserting a mandatory advertisement between rounds, or even at half-time. That seems to be working out OK for services like blip.tv. Maybe a few tweaks here and there to keep gamers happy and hackers out, but otherwise BF2 was fine just as it was. All the effort that you guys put in it so far seems to have been a total waste. As it stands now, there is no reason at all for anyone who played any decent FPS set in the modern age to play this game. If you go ahead and publish this to the masses, you lose your shot at capturing the casual gamer market that's looking for decent, free modern warfare FPS to play.
My honest first impression was so incredibly negative, I couldn't stand to play it for more than a few minutes. It's just so utterly terrible. Firstly, the graphics are literally nothing but brown. Battlefield is notorious for this, but this is the brown-est game I've ever played. I don't think the actual countries of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan combined are this dirty and brown. I'm pretty sure they can see the sun there. Last I checked, the sky was blue there too, not a hazy cloud of dust.
Graphics are subjective on PCs, but from what I can tell, this is pretty much Battlefield 2, but for free.
The guns are terrible, the interface is barren and not very intuitive, and the connections are horrible. Not to mention, running in anything other than 800x600 in windowed mode made the game crash. Nice.
The players made a bad experience worse, though I can't blame EA for that. Battlefield has always had a community of campers, this game is no different. I'd rather be playing with bunny jumpers in Counter Strike or noob-tubers in CoD. I'm out. Done. This game combines everything I hate about Battlefield with everything that's wrong with Battlefield Heroes (though at least that game had some nifty outfits). If you like it, good for you, I'm glad you've found something you like.
This is the last time I play this or any other EA multiplayer shooter.
You wanted a first impression, this is mine. So utterly horrible I swore off of multiplayer shooters produced by EA and played by the Battlefield community. No amount of beta tweaking could make this game fun for me. Commence futile flaming of this account I will no longer be using.
Definately not saying that this game is bad, but theres two things that should be fixed:
1. Bugs and lag fixes! It takes me like an hour before I can play sometimes, takes ages to buy stuff, and when I want to leave a game it takes ages aswell. In-game lag isnt bad most of time, its just the things around the edges.
2. Snipers should be more powerful. Its annoying taking 3shots to kill someone with a bolt-action and when you zoom in the crosshair is always moving making it hard to hit.
Well been into this series right from BF1942 onward.
Keeping in mind that this is a browser based game (and free) it looks really good, only reason I would keep playing it though as it might have some impacts on BF3 (or so Ive been told).
However with all games that are "free" there is the money maker aspect to it that I cant blame EA for as they are in the business to make money but again like many "free" games getting the good gear goes towards those willing to pay for it ( or who live at mum and dad's).
So far so good, I can understand the frustration with the 12 year old hackers. Pretty pathetic lack of skills if you need to hak.
This is one of those good time wasters but not one I would put any serious time into, its no BF2 or replacement for BFBC2, which makes me wonder why in the hell cant we get some serious 32 vs 32 or more these days. WW2 online about 10 years ago could get 100 players online what gives?
So far I can't even get into a server. Load screen seems to lock up and I lost connection several times. Once I was able to get in the lag was too bad to move. No connection issues on my end...high speed cable and was playing in our BC2 server tonight with no lag. I'll try one more time tomorrow.
