A-Ten-Hut,

The networking god that is Kristoffer Benjaminsson has taken some time out of his busy schedule to explain why you may experience something akin to lag every now and then, and that we are working to correct the situation asap.

The beta has been running for some time now. It started out somewhat bumpy, but as time has gone by the game has gradually improved. Remember in the beginning when it was quite hard just to get into a server? We’ve fixed a lot of connectivity issues and will continue to do so as we find them.
One thing that is till plaguing the beta is lag. Or the perception of lag really. Because what you as players experience as lag is most of the time the result of the game server not running at full speed.

The way the game works, the game server is authoritative and simulates all game logic. The clients more or less only renders what the server tells it to. When the game server isn’t keeping up, the clients try and guess what to do next, just to be corrected from the game server from time to time. This leads to a laggy experience. So what many players blame their Internet connection or a service provider for can very well just be performance problems on the servers.
There are multiple reasons why this is happening and without going into details let me just say that there are quite a few things that have changed internally in the game since Battlefield Heroes producing new challenges for us to solve.

And that’s the bottom line. We are aware of the lag and are working on solutions to reduce and in the end remove it. Please bear with us while we fix it. After all, it is a closed beta.

Thanks,
Kristoffer Benjaminsson, CTO

Hopefully the above gives you a bit of insight into what is happening and why.

Indeed.
I wish you much much luck to fix this problem as fast as you can!! Smile Smile
I do only rarely experience lag, maybe in 1/30 successful server connections. I have often trouble connecting though. Good luck with solving the remaining issues Smile
When I move a mouse and shoot the bullet goes to direction where a sight was 0.5 sec ago. Is this just to me? I've not seen the kind of ... in other games even when there was high ping.
Interesting stuff, I've been experiencing server lag and it's getting me killed Sad
I hope that it can be fixed Smile
I thought as much. I'm knew you guys were going to fix it, but thank you for announcing it to everyone.
The lag CAN be annoying, but not as annoying as only being able to play when it feels like letting me. Fix the Connection Lost/Timed Out errors when clicking Play Now, before you address the lag.
Aha, I was right.
Told you it was server-side.
maybe once we can have our own servers lag will subside along with overload of servers, i have a pretty good connection and suffer with lag from to time which is annoying when u just got an enemys head in your sights, LAAAAG, enemy kills you, game resumes as normal and I was killed by Sad
Extra pizza and Coca-Cola if you fix it by tonight!
Hm... I have lagg i try in explorer and chrome same problem... i have good internet connection but lagging the game ...
