2011/09/02 Veterans' Top Tips #8

While many members of the Battlefield Play4Free community are Battlefield or FPS veterans, not everyone that plays this game has that level of experience.

In an effort to improve the field craft and know-how of our less experienced players we thought it a good idea to hand the mic over to our battle hardened veterans for general Battlefield advice, in-depth expertise, and maybe an insightful philosophical thought every now and again (what, too much? ).

As such, we have set up a thread in which our veterans can leave their top tip of the day, the best of which we will publish to our Homepage and Facebook!

We'll start with something slightly different for today's first tip.

The most dangerous enemy is the one that slips behind you, use motion sensors, claymores, or check your surroundings regularly to make sure the enemy doesn't flank your team.

Recons in close combat have advantage, run away and let a claymore in your way. You'll get enough distance to shoot if he does not die with your trap.

Don't throw/drop Med or Ammo packs....you might run out.

Switching to a sidearm is always faster than reloading your current weapon.

When gunning from a tank, van or hummer always keep rotating and ducking frequently to avoid being an easy headshot.

sniper rifles and tank cannons have bullet drop at long (75+) range so aim high and arch your shot. Firing from an elevated position will reduce bullet drop.

You don't always necessarily need to 'see' your target to spot them on the map with the spotting command. Exceptions include through foliage behind some crates and any time even the smallest portion of their body is visible. Though it has been said before spotting is one of the most underrated activities in the game and helps vastly more than you may think (AND IT GIVES YOU FREE POINTS!).

Also as has been said in these forums before it is your duty as an experienced player to impart this sort of knowledge on your fellow players during a match wherever convenient. Many of the people that may benefit most from these tips likely do not actively seek them out.

How is this a good tip for this game? You can't set people on fire, so it's not relevant at all. Sure, it's funny, I'll give you that, but usually people who are reading tips actually looking for relevant help.

Edit: But hey, I'll give a real tip here: Shoot the ammo box of the .50 cal on tanks and the wheels on APCs. They are unarmored and can actually give some serious damage to the vehicles.
